SSWARS Built 150 Improved Toilets Within One Year in Kampala’s slums in Kampala – Uganda
The U-ACT project was a three year (01 April 2011 - 30 March 2013) action research project that was implemented in Kampala with the funding from European Water Initiative ERA-NET (SPLASH), a consortium of funding agencies that comprised of and consortium partners, the Austria Development Cooperation (ADA), Department for International Development (DFID), Ministère des Affaires Étrangères et Européenes (MAEE), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). Leadership of this project was provided by the Center for Development and Co-operation (NADEL), a unit of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zürich). Partners include Sandec/EAWAG, Makerere University and Sustainable Sanitation and Water Renewal Systems (SSWARS) Local NGO.
